Autorizacion de Regreso

If your NIE has expired and you need to travel outside of Spain, you must obtain an Autorización de Regreso to ensure you can re-enter the country​

The Autorización de Regreso (Authorization to Return) is a document that allows foreigners whose residence or stay authorization is being renewed or extended to leave and return to Spain within 90 days. It's essential to have this document if you plan to travel while your NIE application is in process, as it ensures you can re-enter Spain without issues.

  • Original NIE or TIE

  • Resguardo' (receipt) showing that your application is being processed

  • Full passport

  • Flight tickets to show your travel plans

  • Tax Form

  • TasaPayment/ Receipt of Tasa

 

​When to present the application?


Anytime as soon as your application is on process or already approved.

​Can you travel while your NIE is on process?

​

Yes, you can travel while your NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) is being processed as long as you carry the Autorizacion de Regreso to request in the Comisario de Policia.

Where can I travel with this letter?

​

You can travel to countries outside Schengen area. This permit is not valid to travel inside Schengen area countries.
