RENEWAL OF PETITION

👨‍👩‍👧 RENEWAL OF FAMILY REUNIFICATION RESIDENCE PERMIT

(Reagrupación Familiar – Updated to Article 71, RD 1155/2024)

If you already have a Family Reunification Residence Permit (Reagrupación Familiar), it’s time to renew it so you can continue living legally with your family in Spain.

This renewal is simple, fast, and we take care of everything for you. 💙✨

💡 What Is This Renewal?

This is the renewal of the temporary residence permit that was originally granted to you because you were reunified by a legal resident in Spain (your “reagrupante”).

The renewed authorization will:

➡️ Allow you to live and work legally (for any employer or self-employed)
➡️ Have a validity of 4 years (according to Article 71.6)
➡️ Be conditional on the reagrupante maintaining their own residence permit

📌 Important: You do NOT need an informe de vivienda (house inspection report) for this renewal — even if you changed address.

This requirement only applies to the initial reagrupation, never to the renewal.

👤 Who Can Renew?

This renewal applies to:

  • Spouses or registered partners

  • Children or minors under guardianship

  • Parents or grandparents reunified

  • Any family member holding a card that says “residencia por reagrupación familiar”

It can also be submitted by:

  • The spouse/partner of the reagrupante, if the original sponsor cannot renew

  • The other parent or guardian in the case of minors, as long as they are legal residents in Spain

✅ Requirements

To renew your Family Reunification Permit, you must meet the following:

✔️ Not be an EU/EEA/Swiss citizen
✔️ Have no criminal record in Spain or in the countries where you lived in the last 5 years
✔️ The family relationship must still exist (marriage, partnership, parent–child, etc.)
✔️ Children of school age must be properly enrolled
✔️ Pay the government renewal fee

📋 Documents You Need

We prepare everything for you — you only need to provide:

  • Full passport (all pages) of both reagrupante and reagrupado

  • NIE cards of both

  • Proof that the relationship is still valid (marriage/partnership certificate, etc.)

  • School certificate if you have school-age children

  • If needed, integration report from your Autonomous Community

💡 Any foreign documents must be translated and apostilled/legalized.

📌 And again — no house documents are needed. No contract, no informes, nothing.

🗓️ When Can You Apply?

You can submit your renewal:

📅 Up to 2 months before your card expires
📅 Or within 3 months after it expires

If you apply within these deadlines, your previous residence remains valid until a decision is issued.

⏳ Processing Time

The Immigration Office has 3 months to decide.

If no decision is notified → your renewal is approved by positive silence (legal automatic approval).

After approval, you must:

🖐️ Request your new TIE card (fingerprints) within 1 month.
